Supporting young refugees from Ukraine through MHPSS services and capacity building

Supporting young refugees from Ukraine through mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services and capacity building

The main goal of the project is to strengthen the mental well-being, social inclusion and long-term integration of Ukrainian adolescents and young people (aged 10–24), while supporting the professional development of the workers who work with this target group.

Activities implemented within the project:

1. Individual and group support for children, adolescents and young people with refugee experience

  • Individual psychosocial counselling, mentoring and peer support; groups focused on processing shared experiences, building life skills and strengthening family relationships.
  • Developing emotional literacy and stress management
  • Possibility of covering the cost of summer camps
  • Promoting synergistic projects of partner organisations – if you run programmes suitable for our target group, we will be happy to share them.

2. Capacity building for professionals and field workers

  • Supervision and burnout prevention
  • A three-day training on working with aggression and the possibility of covering the cost of partner trainings: the STRONG programme, a trauma-informed approach to working with young people, peer support methodologies
  • Thematic workshops for staff of NGOs, municipalities, labour offices and other involved institutions

3. Digital awareness-raising and knowledge sharing

This project is implemented with the support of UNICEF within the CESTY programme.
